Накануне старта In the lead up to the start of the Ist World Traditional Combat Games we continue to introduce you to the sports and martial arts that will be presented at these competitions. Today we will talk about sports that came to us from Japan: aikido, all-style karate and kyokushin.
Aikido is an ideal self-defense system that includes throws, strikes, chokes and painful holds. The main principle of this sport is to use the opponent's strength against himself.
Aikido technique is characterized by the use of circular motions when moving away from the line of attack and to unbalance the opponent, and since the applied goal of Aikido is to survive in an extreme situation, the techniques are directed against the most vulnerable parts of the body.
The «all-style karate» sport combines several varieties of karate and it consists of three groups of sports disciplines: LC-limited contact, FC-full contact, PE-full contact in protective equipment.
In the «limited contact» discipline it is allowed to outpunch kicks with a limit, that is, not with its full potential. High-injury actions, full contact kicks, finger strikes, painful holds, as well as amplitude throws without insurance are prohibited. This discipline also includes kata and kata-bunkai competitions.
When performing in the «full contact» discipline you can outpunch more kicks, using knees and elbows to the body, undercuts and throws with a non-contact finishing designation, as well as karategi hacks from one side. Lead for the face and submission holds are prohibited.
Athletes performing in full contact must use protective equipment - a bandage, open-fingered gloves, a vest, chest guards, a helmet and a gum-shield. The range of permitted techniques is very wide, but the most traumatic techniques such as blows to the throat or elbow lever are prohibited.
Kyokushin is a full contact sport. Its specific characteristics are physical intensity and emphasis on strength and endurance. Kyokushin trains not only striking and defensive techniques, but also physical fitness, including strength, endurance and flexibility.
During workout, students perform a variety of exercises aimed at developing strength and flexibility, as well as improving physical training. An important feature of Kyokushin is its approach to sparring. Competitors may use full - fledged strikes during combat, including kicks, punches and knees. This makes the fight more realistic and closer to real combat conditions.
